Course Objective

To introduce the fundamentals of Civil Engineering drawing and understand the principles of planning, and to enable students to learn the drafting of buildings manually and using drafting software such as AutoCAD.

Module-wise Syllabus

Module 1

Minimum 10 experiments, all computer-based: review of drafting software; site plan, plan, section and elevation of a single-storeyed residential building with flat roof; plan/section/elevation of a double-storeyed residential building with sloped roof, prepared for authority approval; plan/section/elevation of a public building (office complex, health centre, commercial, educational, post office, bank — any two); plumbing and sanitary drawings; electrical drawings; introduction to BIM software (plan/section/elevation of a single-storied residential building); introduction to project planning software (construction sequence scheduling); contour map preparation from total station survey data; earthwork estimation from total station survey data; small water supply pipe network simulation using EPANET; land use data preparation using GIS.
