Course Objective
To demonstrate proficiency in chain and compass surveying; to execute various levelling and theodolite surveying techniques effectively; to utilize advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, levels, and GPS; to employ total station for field surveying, contouring and curve setting out; and to demonstrate the use of LiDAR and GNSS surveying.
Module-wise Syllabus
Module 1
Minimum 12 experiments: chain/tape and compass surveying; levelling (differential, fly, profile and cross-sectioning); distance between inaccessible points (horizontal angle); level difference between points (vertical angle); tangential tacheometry; traversing with Bowditch's rule, transit rule and graphical method; total station survey (heights/distances, area computation, contouring); setting out of simple and compound curves; study of automatic level, digital level and handheld GPS; LiDAR surveying; GNSS surveying.
