Frequently Asked Questions
Is Maharashtra SSC harder than CBSE Class 10?
Maharashtra SSC and CBSE Class 10 are different in style but similar in difficulty. CBSE has more MCQ/competency-based questions and a centralised all-India question paper. Maharashtra SSC has a uniform state question paper with more descriptive questions and construction/diagram emphasis in Maths and Science. Maharashtra SSC has more theory questions in Economics and History compared to CBSE's project-based approach. Neither is definitively harder — CBSE students struggle with Maharashtra SSC's specific format and vice versa.
How is the Maharashtra SSC result calculated?
Maharashtra SSC results are based on written exam marks. Each subject is out of 100 (80 theory + 20 internal/oral for language subjects; 80 theory + 20 practical for Science). Total: 6 subjects × 100 = 600 marks. Grade points (GP) are calculated on a 10-point scale. Best 5 subjects out of 6 determine the GPA for FYJC (Class 11) admissions in Maharashtra. Minimum passing: 35 marks per subject. Students failing in 1–2 subjects can appear for supplementary exams.
