Frequently Asked Questions

Is BCom a good degree for the future?

Yes — BCom remains one of the most practical undergraduate degrees in India. Its value comes from two dimensions: (1) Direct eligibility for high-demand roles in Accounting, Banking and Finance; (2) As a foundation for professional qualifications (CA, CS, CMA, MBA) that have strong career trajectories. The highest-earning BCom graduates are those who add a professional qualification — particularly CA (₹7–15 LPA fresh) or MBA from a top IIM (₹15–30 LPA). Without a professional qualification, BCom on its own typically commands ₹2.5–5 LPA in entry-level roles.

BCom vs BBA — which is better for MBA?

Both BCom and BBA are considered equally for MBA admission — IIMs and top B-schools accept both. BCom's advantage for MBA: stronger Accounting, Taxation and Financial Analysis background directly relevant to MBA Finance. BBA's advantage: broader management curriculum (marketing, HR, operations) that provides context for all MBA specialisations. For MBA Finance, BCom (or BCom Honours) is marginally better. For MBA Marketing or HR, BBA's broader exposure is an advantage. The college quality, aggregate marks and work experience matter more than the BCom vs. BBA distinction.
